The property at Greenland Road comprises a Grade II Listed building, constructed circa 1790, situated in the heart of Camden, London. The project involved the complete refurbishment of the London Borough of Camden-owned building, including partial demolition and rebuilding, to create a Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Unit. The project was part of a London-wide police initiative to help improve local communities and reintroduce local policing. Watts was aware that careful liaison with local residents, the police and conservation officers were key to the success of the project.
Watts’ brief was to provide lead consultancy services and project manage the conversion of a semi-derelict Listed building into a Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Unit, to carry out all necessary liaisons with conservation officers and undertake neighbourly matters in accordance with the Party Wall Act 1996.
The project involved managing and coordinating a multi-disciplinary team comprising architects, structural engineers, M&E engineers and various police departments.
