Aldwych House, London, WC1

Client:
ABP and Aegon
Consultant:
Watts
Service:
Building Pathology, Cost Consultancy and Project Management
Project Cost:
£2 million

Watts acted as Project Managers for the refurbishment of the second and third floors of Aldwych House. On this occasion, we offered the client a one-stop service, covering not only project management, but also architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, quantity surveying and structural engineering. We also instigated a separate stripping-out contract, which allowed tenderers for the refurbishment to price the works more accurately, thereby reducing the risk to co-owners of unforeseen variations.

The brief included stripping-out the previous tenant's fixtures and fittings, renewal of all services, construction of new toilets and complete refurbishment of the offices. The contract period was only 25-weeks but the project
was completed within this period and without an increase in the contract sum.

Aldwych House is a prestigious and traditionally constructed building, with a fine stone faade, on the northern of the Aldwych.
