Watts advised on the performance of a PFI contract for a group of schools. The advice, ranging from health and safety compliance to maintenance and management systems, aimed to bring clarity to all contractual arrangements, and to deliver a step-change improvement in performance and communication. Watts instigated communications between all parties, setting down the schools’ expectations and concerns. This initial advice laid down the foundation for more rigorous contract monitoring and compliance.
Watts was given a wide brief, which included looking at both historic contract issues and current concerns. The involvement ranged from setting communication strategies and organising management protocals,
to demands for improvement in statutorily vital areas. As PFI contracts are complex, Watts deciphered what was critical and achievable, and put in place systems for resolution and long-term success.
