The project required Watts to manage reinstatement works following the collapse of a crane on an adjacent site, onto the Croydon Park Hotel. Watts’ role included the completion of emergency works to make the building safe and weather tight and management of a team that could quickly mobilise a contractor to undertake the works, including the replacement of structural members and major pieces of the plant.
Watts was appointed to manage the reinstatement of the roof and rear façade of a hotel damaged due to the collapse of a crane from an adjacent construction site. Watts was required to minimise the effects to the hotels operations by sequencing and accelerating works.
Watts was required to act as the main line of communication between all parties to the contract, including the hotel owner, hotel operators, loss adjusters and third party insurers. All this was required while the hotel continued to trade.
