Watts provided employer’s agent, project management and quantity surveying services for the client on 88-100 High Street, West Wickham. The project involved the redevelopment of listed buildings into 1,600 sq m shell retail space for Marks and Spencer and ten residential units. The works were procured on a design and build contract and the client wished to maximise the development value of the residential units.

The project was extensively value engineered prior to appointing the contractor. An amended planning application was submitted and approved to incorporate the VE recommendations. The scheme includes mixed car parking for shoppers and residents including security access. The contract duration was 48 weeks.

The original stable buildings are linked with atrium-glazed structures to a three-storey block that forms the main entrance to the store.
