Watts was appointed as project manager and employer’s agent for the refurbishment of around 7,400 sq m of office space in the heart of Bracknell. The building is a purpose built office, constructed during the 1980s and comprises a basement and ground and first floors. The design-and-build project is described as a ‘heavy’ category A refurbishment, as it involved the relocation of the major internal cores, involving temporary and new structural works. On completion, the new configuration has optimised the internal space to its full potential while providing flexibility for tenancy divisions.
Watts’ brief was to reconfigure an existing property to create a category A open plan refurbishment of office space while achieving an increase in floor area and incorporating an existing courtyard through the construction of an atrium.
