This project involved the redevelopment of a redundant 1960s office block on an industrial estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The property’s original concrete frame was left intact, while the external envelope was replaced. An additional storey was added and extra floor space created. Watts was asked to provide a phase one environmental audit of the office block for the client, who is involved in the industrial, retail and office market where they identify properties in need of refurbishment or redevelopment for subsequent lease.
The client had in their possession a previous phase one audit that covered the whole site, prior to its sub-division. Watts’ report was required to comment on the office block only. In addition to the environmental audit, Watts was commissioned to carry out a type two asbestos survey, undertaken during the same visit. |
