The Ark is an iconic, landmark building situated in Hammersmith, adjacent to the flyover. The works included the demolition of the central core village, creation of a two storey atrium, modifications to the entrance foyer and connection of the office plates on levels two to seven. A mezzanine floor has been constructed at level eight. Total net lettable floor area is now 13,940 sq m. Watts was appointed by the client to provide contract administration and cost management advice from inception of the project.
Watts was initially consulted for cost advice prior to acquisition of the building and subsequently engaged to administer the construction works and provide quantity surveying post-contract. Watts integrated with the client’s team to appoint a management contractor and remained actively involved ona day-to-day basis to ensure effective cost consultancy, project continuity and successful delivery of this prestigious development.
The Ark is a highly unusual building. One of its many features includes four internal climber lifts, one of which 'breaks through' the roof as it ascends to the crows nest at high levels with panoramic views of London.
