Westfield House
Westbury on Trym, Bristol

Client:
St. Monica Trust
Consultant:
Watts
Service:
Environmental Audit

Watts carried out a type 2 asbestos investigation for three of the larger apartment blocks at Westfield House, in order for the client to comply with the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002. A detailed survey of the building fabric was undertaken and samples of suspect materials were sent for laboratory analysis. Following the results of the sample testing, an asbestos register and survey report were created in accordance with the HSE’s MDHS 100 document.

The client had a pro-active approach to the current legislation, and was keen to identify any suspect materials present in the buildings and make necessary improvements at an early stage. The client required Watts to provide clear-record documents and advice for complying with current legislation concerning asbestos containing materials, so that they managed them effectively.

Although the buildings generally date from a period when asbestos was not widely used, Watts needed to be mindful that the properties had been extensively altered and refurbished in the decades of occupation.
