Accordia
Cambridge

Client:
Apollo Real Estate in JV with Countryside Properties Plc
Consultant:
Watts
Service:
Project and Development Monitoring and Technical Due Diligence
Project Cost: £75 million

Watts was commissioned to provide a due diligence survey on Accordia, a major project in Cambridge consisting of 382 residential units, 114 of which are affordable. Key aspects of the project include: the concept of urban living in a garden setting; a uniquely integrated environment of connected green private and public spaces; contemporary architecture crafted in natural and traditional materials; individual architect designed interiors; multi-functional spaces with open-plan living; and sustainable development with a strong environmental agenda.

Watts was initially commissioned to undertake due diligence for the company. This led to the provision of monitoring construction and strategic level advice to the management board. Duties were also expanded to include a project recovery role, involving exit negotiations and strategic design and procurement advice.

The design master plan was developed to respond to the needs of 21st Century living in the context of the city and its familiar hierarchy of dense urban-built form, set within the existing mature landscape framework.
