Watts was appointed to undertake a thorough building inspection of Amethyst House. The building is an occupied, established care home on the outskirts of Doncaster. Watts inspected the property and identified many inherent design and construction defects associated with properties built in the 19th Century. The inspection and report focused on statutory compliance, planned maintenance programmes and life-cycle costing.

The client proposed to acquire the freehold interest in the property and Watts carried out all relevant technical due diligence investigations. Watts reported in detail to enable the client to make various strategic decisions on purchase, operation and maintenance.

The Grade II building was originally the Old Rossington Rectory and was subsequently converted to a private house and then a care home. The property was subsequently extended in the 1980s.
