Watts was appointed to advise on accessibility at Cardiff International Arena, in the light of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the extra requirements coming into effect in October 2004.  Certain access provisions were already in place, however the report detailed further suggested improvements.

Watts reviewed current DDA policies to understand the current access strategy. Tailored advice was provided on making access improvements. The client also used the report to help develop their building management strategy and capital expenditure forecast.

The Arena has a variety of uses ranging from housing long and short-term office tenancies, to the staging of concerts and exhibitions. Basement car parking, kitchens and bar areas are provided along with viewing balconies and the main auditorium. All these areas were assessed in terms of their accessibility.
