Watts was instructed by a large facilities management company to provide disabled access advice in respect of their client's property.  Advice was given on accessibility issues for the building in the light of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, particularly in respect of the more strict requirements coming into effect in October 2004.  Strategic advice and budget costings were provided, which enabled the client to develop a strategy for phased improvements to the building.

Watts provided practical advice to identify accessibility problems and provide short and long-term solutions. The use of various parts of the building, and the pattern of access, needed identifying. A tailored report was produced, which was used by the client to create a specification for improvements to the building and their service provision, which they then sought to implement on a phased basis.

The property was occupied by HM Customs and Excise and was used primarily as administrative offices. The building featured public access to interview rooms, general enquiries and conference facilities, and the Queens Warehouse provided storage for seized goods, with sniffer dogs housed in on-site kennels.
