New Scotland Yard
Toilet Refurbishment

Client:
Metropolitan Police Service
Consultant:
Watts
Service:
Project Management

New Scotland Yard, the public face of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), required works to upgrade and refurbish some 90 separate toilet areas throughout the buildings. The initial budget estimate for these works was 1.5 million. After agreeing a basic schedule of works and finishes, budgetary constraints meant that the majority of the works has been deferred. However, the works to the Commissioners? personal W/C facilities were completed and provided an indication of the design flair and quality of installation that will be conveyed elsewhere within the building.

The toilet refurbishment project encompassed all male and female W/Cs, and included the incorporation of new disabled facilities to meet forthcoming DDA legislation. Watts provided expertise in surveying; mechanical, electrical and public health engineering; and architectural flair!

A superior specification of finishes was required for the completed senior officers facilities. All of this work needed to be programmed to allow the building occupiers to continue to work on a 24-hour basis.
