"Independent and gateway reviews provide a structured way of improving decision-making at key stages in a project. They bring insight to the process and encourage knowledge sharing."

Gateway reviews are a key element of the 'Achieving Excellence in Construction' agenda and are proven to be one of the most effective ways of improving the success rate of programmes and projects. Independent expert interrogation of project drivers, processes and decision making is challenging for a project team, but also constructive. It sharpens focus on outputs, improves quality and drives out waste.
The Service:
Gateway reviews are undertaken to ensure that major projects are subject to rigorous scrutiny as they pass through milestone 'gateways' at critical points in the project lifecycle. Healthchecks are similar, but carried out to a less formal timetable - generally in response to a specific situation. Teams of experienced specialists carry out both examinations, independently of the project team. These specialists report directly to the client or 'senior responsible owner'.
Why Watts?
Watts specialises in technical due diligence in construction and development. This includes project consultancy, and development and project monitoring, within which, Gateway Reviews and Project Healthchecks are discrete specialisms. We hold Office of Government Commerce and Department for Education and Skills framework commissions in these areas, which mean that these services can be purchased by the public sector. This includes: central government, local authorities, and Non-Departmental Public bodies without recourse to further Official Journal of the European Union tender procedures.
We have a library service making comprehensive up-to-date information readily accessible. Such support assists the development of our technical expertise, in advance of changes in the environment. Watts is uniquely placed in a developing market, with both the information we gather, and the team of professionals, who have the specialist skills to make best use of the information.
