Watts was appointed to act as lead consultant, designer, contract administrator, cost consultant and CDM coordinator on this major refurbishment project. Watts looked at the feasibility of converting the run-down former industrial building to B1 commercial studio units as well as options to extend, and managed the final scheme from inception to completion.
Watts was instructed to alter and refurbish the warehouse into studio/office units. The property was in poor condition, badly planned and underused. In addition to being DDA compliant, the project included sustainability measures such as solar panels, double-glazing and high levels of roof insulation.
Watts' project at Deane House was winner of the 'Inclusive Design' category at the 2007 London Borough of Camden Building Quality Awards. This was for the projects fully DDA accessible design and incorporation of sustainability solutions.
